#GiveTogetherNow provides help for families during the pandemic

Millions of families lost their jobs in the first months of the pandemic. With death totals on the rise and no end of government assistance in sight, Stand Together and the Family Independence Initiative launched a cash fundraiser that would distribute $500 to thousands of families and individuals who lost their jobs long before the government was able to act.

Over 41 million Americans filed for unemployment in those early days and many faced mounting piles of bills and increased responsibilities for groceries, rent payments, medical supplies, childcare, and so much more. To make this experience more challenging, two in five families in America do not have an emergency fund of at least $400 to keep them from falling into further dire needs. We believe that the people closest to the problem are the ones best prepared to handle it so we connected with over 200 nonprofits across the country to identify the families who had lost their jobs to receive direct cash transfers as quickly as the money came in.

When this began, we’d hoped to raise $20MM dollars. That’s why I’m thrilled to tell you that we’ve raised more than $120MM for familied who need it.

Stand Together LIVE

When the pandemic first began, the world found themselves locking down their lives and opening up their screens. Many artists responded with live content and behind-the-scenes style conversations that allowed mass audiences to see what we were all locked down together. GTN brought together artists from all over the country to raise money through candid conversations about their lives, what inspired them, and times where they felt helpless to connect to their audience to what they can do to help others now. In total we hosted 21 conversations throughout the course of this campaign.
